What is an Assessment?
Neuropsychological Assessment
Children can have difficulty within their home, school, and/or social lives for a variety of reasons. Sometimes these difficulties are not well understood. Neuropsychological assessment is a powerful tool that can help children and parents better understand these struggles by offering insight into the functioning of a child's brain, including their cognitive strengths and weaknesses. This process can inform why a child struggles within certain situations, thrives in others, reveal any underlying diagnoses (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia, autism, etc.), and offer treatment and educational recommendations that are tailored to the child. This is a comprehensive process that integrates numerous types of information, including standardized test data (e.g., memory, attention, academic skills, etc.), parent and teacher reports, observations, and review of historic records. |
